Who can take part
- You are 10 years or older
- Your doctor has diagnosed you with a neuromuscular disease (like muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy, ALS, or Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease) that causes arm weakness
- Your shoulder weakness affects arm function but you can still move your arm some (Brooke scale score between 2 and 5)
- Your shoulder muscle strength is less than moderate (shoulder abduction Manual Muscle Test grade below 3)
- You can understand the study and sign a consent form (or have a family member do it)
