Rotator Cuff TearsCentral SensitisationNeuropathic Pain

Treatments studied

Part of Brain & nervous system, Injuries & trauma, Pain clinical trials.

This trial tests whether the nerve pain medicine pregabalin can reduce shoulder pain after rotator cuff surgery in people who also have a sensitive nervous system (central sensitization). It may help if you still have muscle pain after your surgery.

Pain education after rotator cuff surgery

This trial tests if learning about pain before and after rotator cuff repair helps people recover better. It might help you if you have a medium-sized tear and are planning surgery.

Pregabalin for nerve pain from diabetes or shingles

This trial tests an extended-release version of pregabalin (a pain medication) for people with long-term nerve pain caused by diabetes or shingles. It aims to see if this once-daily pill can reduce pain with fewer side effects.

Pain sensitivity before rotator cuff surgery and recovery

This study looks at how your body's pain processing before surgery might affect your recovery after rotator cuff repair. If you are having arthroscopic surgery for a torn rotator cuff, researchers want to see if a certain type of pain sensitivity (called central sensitization) is linked to your outcomes three months later.

Rotator cuff repair pain study: fewer narcotics

This trial tests a mix of pain medicines (multimodal regimen) to see if it reduces the need for strong narcotics after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. If you have a torn rotator cuff that hasn't healed with other treatments and you are scheduled for surgery, you may be able to join.
