Albumin 20% vs Standard Fluids for Septic Shock

Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with septic shock in the last 24 hours, meaning a severe infection with low blood pressure despite fluids.
  • You are on medications called vasopressors to keep your blood pressure above a certain level.
  • Your blood lactate level (a sign of tissue stress) is higher than 2 mmol/L.
  • If you are a woman who could become pregnant, you must have a negative pregnancy test and not be breastfeeding.
  • You do not have a known allergy to albumin or a condition that would make albumin treatment risky.
