Inspiratory Muscle Training

This study tests if a special breathing exercise (inspiratory muscle training) can strengthen your breathing muscles while you wait for a lung transplant. You'd do the training alongside your regular pulmonary rehab sessions.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older
  • You are on the waiting list for a lung transplant
  • You already attend a supervised exercise program (pulmonary rehab) for your lungs
  • You have been told you have either interstitial lung disease (ILD) or COPD
  • You do not have an active lung infection, a pacemaker, severe osteoporosis with rib fractures, recent pneumothorax (collapsed lung), or ear problems
