This study is testing a new way to predict if your spine might break again after you have treatment for a fracture caused by osteoporosis. If you have a recent spinal fracture from weak bones and are getting a cement injection (PVP or PKP), researchers want to check your information to see how well their risk model works for people like you.

Who can take part

  • You have broken one to three vertebrae (spinal bones) due to osteoporosis (weak, brittle bones).
  • Your new fracture was confirmed by an MRI (showing bone marrow swelling or bleeding).
  • You are planning to have a procedure called PVP or PKP (injecting bone cement to stabilize the fracture).
  • You have not had severe spinal curvature, previous vertebroplasty, or spinal surgery with rods/screws.
  • You do not have a spinal infection or active cancer in the spine.
  • You are not currently suffering from a serious mental illness, dementia, or life-threatening condition like severe heart or brain disease.
