  • You are 60 years old or older.
  • You are scheduled for a planned (non-emergency) surgery.
  • You are not currently taking antidepressant medications.
  • You do not have a history of alcohol abuse or drug dependency.
  • You do not have a known neurological or psychiatric disorder that required medication before surgery.
