Who can take part

  • You must have muscle-invasive bladder cancer with a variant histology type.
  • Your cancer should be at stage cT2 to cT4 and not have spread to lymph nodes or distant organs.
  • You must have had a TURBT procedure and a CT scan of your chest, abdomen, and pelvis, or a PET scan to confirm your diagnosis.
  • You must be willing to give written informed consent and follow the study requirements.
  • You cannot have diffuse CIS (a widespread type of carcinoma in situ) in your pathology report.
  • You cannot have hydronephrosis (kidney swelling) on both sides, only one side is allowed if present.
  • You must not have had radiation therapy to your pelvis before.
  • You must not have had systemic therapy (like chemotherapy) for muscle-invasive bladder cancer before.
  • You cannot have another active cancer, unless it was treated more than 5 years ago and you have no evidence of disease.
