Nerve stimulation to improve breastfeeding before hospital discharge

Who can take part

  • Your baby was born at 35 weeks or later.
  • Your baby is stable and does not need extra breathing support beyond low-flow oxygen.
  • Your baby’s feeding team (speech, occupational therapy, or lactation) says it is safe for them to breastfeed.
  • You want to breastfeed your baby.
  • Your baby is still having trouble breastfeeding, even with help from a lactation consultant.
  • You are not using illegal drugs and, if HIV-positive, your viral levels are well-controlled.
