Who can take part

  • You are at least 18 years old.
  • You have a diagnosis or suspicion of polycythemia (high red blood cell count).
  • Your hematocrit level is 49% or higher for men, or 48% or higher for women.
  • You have not had a therapeutic bloodletting (removing blood) in the last 3 months.
  • You have not started a medication to lower your blood cell counts before joining this study.
  • You do not have any other medical condition that might affect blood thickness (as judged by the study doctor).
