Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • Your heart pumps less than 50% of the blood out with each beat (this is called a low ejection fraction).
  • You have mild to moderate symptoms of heart failure (like shortness of breath or tiredness with daily activities).
  • You have been in the hospital for heart failure in the last 6 months, or a blood test shows high levels of a heart stress marker (NT-proBNP or BNP).
  • You have low iron levels (ferritin below 100, or ferritin 100-300 with a low transferrin saturation).
  • You are not severely anemic, do not have severe kidney disease, and have not had a recent heart attack or stroke.
