Breathing muscle training for stroke recovery

This study tests if breathing muscle training can help improve breathing, balance, walking ability, and quality of life in people who had a stroke in the past 1 to 12 months. It is designed for those who can walk at least 10 meters and do not have severe facial weakness or cognitive problems.

Who can take part

  • You are between 40 and 80 years old.
  • You had a stroke (either ischemic or hemorrhagic) 1 to 12 months ago.
  • You can walk at least 10 meters, with or without a walking aid.
  • You can sit upright without foot support for at least 30 seconds.
  • You have no major memory or thinking problems (MoCA score 26 or more).
  • You do not have a feeding tube, tracheal tube, or recent chest/abdominal surgery.
