Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older
  • You had a stroke caused by a blood clot (ischemic stroke), confirmed by a brain scan
  • Your stroke symptoms started within the last 7 days
  • Your stroke caused at least some weakness in an arm or leg (a score of 2 or more on the NIHSS scale)
  • Before this stroke, you had no major disability (you could do daily activities on your own)
  • You were admitted through the emergency room or outpatient clinic, and you agree to join the study
