This trial tests whether adding dronabinol (a prescription medication derived from cannabis) to your current opioid pain treatment can help reduce chronic low back pain more effectively. It is for people who have had persistent low back pain for at least 3 months and are already on a stable opioid regimen.

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 64 years old.
  • You have had low back pain for at least 3 months that has been present on most days for the past 6 months.
  • You are on a stable dose of opioid pain medication (and no other new pain meds) for at least 3 months.
  • You are willing to stop using marijuana, CBD, or any other cannabis products for the study.
  • You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy, and you agree to use effective birth control if applicable.
  • You do not have a current major psychiatric illness, history of substance abuse, seizures, or certain heart conditions.
