Meditation program study for opioid-treated chronic low back pain

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old
  • Your low back pain has lasted a long time and has bothered you at least half the days in the last 6 months
  • Your usual low back pain is at least 3 out of 10 while you are taking opioid medicine
  • You have been taking prescription opioids for at least 3 months
  • You have not had prior training in mindfulness/meditation programs like MBSR, MBCT, or MORE (or not extensive training)
  • You can safely have an MRI scan (you don’t have incompatible metal/electronics and can lie still on your back for 1 to 1.5 hours)
