Early vs very early surgery for ruptured brain aneurysm

Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

Part of Brain & nervous system, Heart & circulation clinical trials.

This study compares two different timelines for surgery on a ruptured brain aneurysm — one group has surgery very early, the other slightly later. The goal is to see which timing leads to better recovery.

Who can take part

  • You have a ruptured aneurysm in your brain that caused bleeding.
  • Your doctor confirms you can have surgery to clip the aneurysm.
  • You can start treatment within 72 hours of the bleeding.
  • You do not have any other serious health problems that would make surgery too risky.
  • You have only one aneurysm, not multiple.

Early Blood Pressure Treatment After Aneurysm Repair

This study tests whether starting blood pressure treatment soon after surgery or coiling for a brain aneurysm can improve recovery. It is for people who had a bleeding stroke from a ruptured aneurysm and are in the hospital for treatment.

NCT04785976Recruiting
Study of long-term outcomes after a ruptured brain aneurysm bleed

This trial is a long-term follow-up study of people who come to the emergency room with a ruptured brain aneurysm (bleeding in the space around the brain). It helps doctors understand what outcomes are most common and what may affect recovery over time.

Early statin for brain aneurysm bleeding

This trial tests whether giving a statin medication very early (within 6 hours of symptoms) can improve recovery after a brain aneurysm bleed. It aims to see if early treatment helps protect the brain.

Studying outcomes after burst brain blood vessel aneurysms

This study looks at what happens over time after a burst brain blood vessel aneurysm that caused bleeding around the brain. Your care team may use the study results to better predict outcomes and guide treatment for people like you.

Drain and clot-dissolving medicine for severe aneurysm bleeding

This trial tests whether placing a small drain in the lower back and giving a clot-dissolving medicine (urokinase) into the fluid around the brain can help people recover from a severe bleeding stroke caused by a brain aneurysm. It is for patients who are treated quickly after the bleed.

Early Aspirin After Brain Aneurysm Rupture and Repair

This study tests whether starting aspirin early after a ruptured brain aneurysm (a weak bulge in a blood vessel) is safely repaired can help prevent complications. Aspirin may reduce the risk of stroke-like complications that sometimes follow this type of brain bleeding.
