- You are between 18 and 75 years old.
- You have a type of rectal cancer called adenocarcinoma, and it has not spread to other parts of your body.
- Your tumor is low in the rectum (within about 2 inches of the anal opening), and it is smaller than 4 cm (about 1.5 inches).
- Your cancer cells have a specific DNA repair pattern called MSS or pMMR.
- You have not had any previous cancer treatment (like chemotherapy, radiation, or immunotherapy) for this cancer.
