Who can take part
- You are 18 to 75 years old.
- Your rectal cancer is “low rectal cancer,” starting within 10 cm of the anal opening, confirmed by pelvic MRI and a scope exam.
- Your scan results fit: no distant spread (M0), and lymph nodes are limited to the mesorectum; nearby iliac lymph nodes must be negative.
- Your tumor matches the study’s biomarker requirements (MSS or MSI-L with pMMR on special testing).
- You have not had any prior cancer treatment, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or pelvic radiation.
- You must be well enough to take treatment (including good blood counts, liver and kidney tests, and heart/thyroid status).
