Who can take part

  • You have been newly diagnosed with liver cancer that has not been treated yet.
  • Your tumor(s) are larger than standard transplant criteria (for example, a single tumor over 5 cm or 2-3 tumors with the largest over 3 cm), but are still removable with surgery.
  • The cancer has not spread to blood vessels, lymph nodes, or other parts of the body.
  • Your liver is healthy enough to have at least 40% of it left after surgery, and your overall liver function is good (Child-Pugh class A).
  • You are in good physical condition (Karnofsky score of 90 or higher) and expected to live more than 6 months.
