COPD treatment: triple vs. double inhaler for air trapping

This trial tests whether adding a third medicine (fluticasone furoate/vilanterol/umeclidinium) to a two-medicine inhaler (vilanterol/umeclidinium) can reduce air trapping and inflammation in the lungs and blood of people with COPD GOLD B. It may help you breathe better and have fewer symptoms.

Who can take part

  • You have COPD GOLD B (a stage where you have mild symptoms but a higher risk of flare-ups).
  • You have had no more than 1 COPD flare-up in the past year.
  • You are currently using a long-acting bronchodilator (LAMA or LAMA/LABA) or a short-acting bronchodilator.
  • You are not currently taking a triple therapy inhaler (steroid + two bronchodilators).
  • You do not have other serious lung conditions like tuberculosis, lung cancer, bronchiectasis, or lung fibrosis.
