High flow oxygen for breathing trouble in ER

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • Your blood oxygen level is low but not dangerously low, and a regular oxygen mask doesn't fix it enough
  • Your breathing rate is not too fast (35 breaths per minute or less)
  • A chest X-ray or ultrasound shows signs of infection in your lungs (like pneumonia), not just fluid or a collapsed lung
  • You do not have severe heart failure, a recent heart attack, or need a breathing tube urgently
