  • You are between 50 and 80 years old.
  • You are scheduled for elective carotid artery surgery under general anesthesia.
  • You are able to breathe on your own and are awake and alert before surgery.
  • You do not have any neurological issues not caused by your carotid artery condition.
  • You are not currently on a breathing tube.
