Who can take part

  • You are between 30 and 70 years old.
  • You have a BMI between 30 and 35 and a waist measurement over 40 inches (men) or 35 inches (women).
  • You either have prediabetes with certain blood sugar test numbers, or you are newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and have not taken any diabetes medication.
  • You have high triglycerides (150–299 mg/dL) or high LDL cholesterol (130–189 mg/dL).
  • You eat meat or fish at least 2 days a week.
  • You do not smoke and you are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy.
  • You are not currently on medications for diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, thyroid, or other serious health conditions.
