7-Ketolithocholic Acid for Prediabetes Treatment

Who can take part

  • Age 18–70 years old
  • Diagnosed with prediabetes (fasting blood sugar 100–125 mg/dL, or HbA1c 5.7–6.4%, or 2-hour glucose after glucose drink 140–199 mg/dL)
  • Body mass index (BMI) between 25–31 kg/m² (roughly 147–188 lbs for a 5'9" person)
  • Willing to follow a low-sugar, lower-calorie diet and keep food and exercise diaries
  • Blood pressure no higher than 130/85 mmHg, triglycerides below 200 mg/dL, and LDL cholesterol below 190 mg/dL
  • Not currently taking diabetes or cholesterol medications, and stop most supplements for 28 days before starting
