- Age 18–70 years old
- Diagnosed with prediabetes based on blood sugar or HbA1c levels (a 3-month average of blood sugar)

- No glucose-lowering medications used in the past 3 months
- No major heart, stroke, or kidney problems in the past 6 months
- Women of childbearing age must agree to use effective birth control during the study
