Who can take part
- You have early-stage rectal cancer (stage cT1 to cT3ab) that has not spread to other parts of the body and is smaller than 5 cm across.
- The tumor can be reached with a special X-ray device placed inside the rectum, meaning it is no more than 10 cm from the anal opening.
- You are generally in good health (ECOG score 0 or 1) and able to undergo treatment.
- You are 18 years or older and do not have any other serious medical problems that would interfere with treatment.
- You have not had radiation therapy to the pelvic area before, and the tumor does not involve more than half of the bowel wall.
