Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You have a severe brain injury from trauma, bleeding inside the brain, or bleeding around the brain (subarachnoid hemorrhage).
  • You are not able to open your eyes and cannot follow commands (a low Glasgow Coma Scale score).
  • This condition happened within the first 48 hours after being admitted to the hospital.
  • You are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
