Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You have a serious sudden brain injury (like a large stroke, brain bleed, or severe head injury) confirmed by a CT or MRI scan.
  • At the time you entered the ICU, you were not opening your eyes and were unable to follow simple commands, or your condition got worse within the first 48 hours.
  • You are expected to stay in the ICU for at least 3 days (72 hours) so continuous brain monitors can be used.
  • Your family or legal representative has agreed to the study and signed a consent form.
  • You do not have any severe injuries to other body parts (such as a broken spine or internal injuries) that could interfere with the brain monitoring.
