Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have been diagnosed with alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency and have a specific gene type (Pi*ZZ or Pi*SZ).
  • If you have the Pi*SZ type, you must have moderate to severe liver disease shown by a liver biopsy or special scans or blood tests.
  • You must have had a liver biopsy, special liver scan, or blood test for liver scarring in the past 2 years, or plan to have one soon.
  • You have not had a liver transplant.
  • If you were in another study for liver or lung treatment, it has been at least 6 months since your last dose of the study drug.
