Who can take part

  • You are having cataract surgery.
  • You are older than 45 years.
  • You do not have any eye surface conditions or eyelid problems.
  • You are not taking certain medications that affect tear production (like some allergy pills, eyedrops with preservatives, or birth control pills).
  • You do not have diabetes, high blood pressure, or rheumatoid arthritis.
  • You have not had eye surgery in the past that could affect tears (like laser vision correction or eyelid surgery).
