- You are between 18 and 75 years old.
- You have been diagnosed with a fatty liver (hepatic steatosis) and have elevated liver enzymes.
- You are overweight, obese, have metabolic syndrome, prediabetes, or type 2 diabetes.
- You do NOT have other liver diseases (like hepatitis B or C, alcohol-related liver disease, or autoimmune hepatitis).
- You do NOT drink heavily (more than about 1 drink per day for women, 2 for men).
- You are not pregnant, do not have active cancer, and have not changed diabetes medications or body weight significantly in the last 3 months.
