Who can take part

  • Your child is between 6 months and 5 years old (not yet 59 months).
  • Your child is scheduled for surgery (planned or unplanned) that is not heart surgery and lasts at least 30 minutes.
  • The surgery is not an imaging procedure like an MRI or CT scan.
  • The surgery does not involve the brain, cancer, or burns.
  • The surgery should not cause significant pain for more than a week (like tonsillectomy or major bone surgery).
  • Your child is not on extra oxygen, sedated, or on a breathing tube before the surgery, and does not have severe developmental delays.
