Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 99 years old.
- You are scheduled for surgery to remove a head or neck cancer and rebuild the area with a piece of your own tissue (free flap).
- You have not had surgery for a head or neck cancer before.
- You do not have anemia (low blood count) or need a blood transfusion right now.
- You are not taking certain blood pressure medications (ACE inhibitors or ARBs) or have any other serious health problems like severe heart, kidney, or liver disease.
- You are not allergic to the anesthetics or pain medicines used in this study (sevoflurane, dexmedetomidine, ketamine, lidocaine).
