Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older.
- You have been diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), a type of liver cancer, confirmed by imaging or biopsy.
- You are planning to have a curative treatment: either a heat-based ablation (radiofrequency or microwave) or surgery to remove the tumor, possibly with ablation.
- Your cancer has an intermediate, high, or very high risk of coming back, and it is only in your liver (no tumors larger than 1 cm outside the liver).
- You are generally active and able to care for yourself (ECOG score 0 or 1), and your liver and kidney function are adequate based on recent blood tests.
- You do not have a severe allergy to shellfish, an active infection, or a condition that requires strong immune-suppressing drugs.
