Microwave ablation plus immune cell therapy for liver cancer
Part of Cancer, Digestive system clinical trials.
This study combines microwave ablation, which uses heat to destroy cancer cells, with immune cell therapy that boosts your body's natural defenses to fight the cancer. It may help people with early-stage liver cancer who cannot have surgery.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.
Who can take part
- You have one liver tumor 5 cm or smaller, or up to three tumors each 3 cm or smaller.
- The cancer has not spread to major blood vessels in the liver or to other parts of the body.
- Your liver function is good (Child-Pugh class A or B).
- Your tumor can be reached with a needle through the skin (percutaneous approach).
- Your blood counts and kidney/liver function are within safe ranges.
- You are not pregnant, not taking steroids long-term, and have no severe heart disease or autoimmune disease.

This trial compares two ways to treat hepatocellular carcinoma (a type of liver cancer): microwave ablation and laparoscopic hepatectomy (keyhole liver surgery). It may help find which option works better for tumor control and recovery in people with limited, non-spread cancer.
This trial tests whether combining heat treatment to kill liver tumors (microwave ablation) with the medicine lenvatinib can better control recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). It may help shrink tumors or slow growth for people whose cancer has come back but who have limited tumor burden.
This trial tests a heat-based treatment for liver cancer tumors that uses multiple methods to destroy cancer cells. It may help people with liver tumors that haven't spread and who are healthy enough for treatment.
This study tests an investigational drug called IP-001 given after surgery or microwave ablation for liver cancer. The goal is to help prevent the cancer from coming back.
This trial tests combining microwave ablation (heat treatment of tumors) with two drugs—tislelizumab (an immune-boosting drug) and docetaxel (chemotherapy)—for patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer whose disease progressed after initial immunotherapy. The goal is to see if this combination can slow or shrink tumors better than standard treatment alone.
This study tests a computer-guided microwave ablation procedure to destroy liver tumors. If you have early-stage liver cancer with up to 5 tumors, and one is 2-5 cm in size, you may be a candidate.
