Who can take part

  • Children must be between 1 month and 18 years old.
  • Must be critically ill (in the ICU or very sick) with a suspected airway problem.
  • Must show signs like trouble breathing after a tube is removed, constant noisy breathing, sudden breathing trouble, a collapsed lung, or coughing up blood.
  • Cannot have very low oxygen levels that don't improve.
  • Cannot have uncontrolled bleeding, unstable blood pressure, or an active lung infection.
  • Exact age must be at least 1 month and under 19 years.
