This study tests whether a targeted therapy pill called osimertinib can work for people whose non-small cell lung cancer came back after they had surgery and completed a course of adjuvant EGFR TKI therapy (like gefitinib or erlotinib). If your cancer has an EGFR mutation and you meet the other health criteria, this trial may offer an additional treatment option.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You had surgery for stage IB to IIIB non-small cell lung cancer, followed by adjuvant targeted therapy (an EGFR TKI pill) for at least 3 months, and your cancer came back more than 3 months after finishing that treatment.
  • Your tumor has a specific EGFR gene mutation (like exon 19 deletion or L858R), as confirmed by a lab test.
  • You are in fairly good health (able to take care of yourself and do daily activities) and are expected to live at least 12 weeks.
  • You have at least one tumor that can be measured on a CT or MRI scan.
  • You are not pregnant and agree to use effective birth control during the study and for 6 months after the last dose.
