Who can take part
- You must be at least 50 years old and have had a blocked carotid artery treated (surgery or stenting) within the last 14 days.
- You cannot have known heart disease, a past heart attack, or prior heart procedures (such as stents or bypass).
- You must be willing and able to have a special CT scan of your heart within 14 days of joining the study.
- You cannot have severe heart failure, severe asthma or COPD, serious kidney disease, or severe heart rhythm problems.
- You cannot be pregnant, have an active infection, or a life-threatening illness that limits life expectancy to less than 2 years.
