Who can take part

  • Your baby has been diagnosed with liver scarring (cirrhosis) caused by biliary atresia, even after having Kasai surgery.
  • Your baby is at least 2 months old and shows signs of cirrhosis, such as an enlarged liver or spleen, abnormal liver blood tests, or enlarged veins in the esophagus (seen on a camera test).
  • Your baby does not have epilepsy, any neurological or bleeding disorder, diabetes, or certain types of biliary atresia.
  • Your baby does not have severe health problems like cancer, organ failure (heart, lungs, liver, or kidneys), active infections, or serious mental health conditions.
  • Your baby is not allergic to the medicines used for anesthesia.
