Gene tests for better melanoma risk assessment

This trial studies whether certain gene patterns and a blood test can help predict how melanoma might behave. It is for people with a thicker melanoma (greater than 2 mm) that has not spread to lymph nodes or other parts of the body, and who are planning to have a sentinel lymph node biopsy.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You have melanoma that was confirmed by a biopsy
  • Your melanoma is thicker than 2 mm (a T3b or higher stage)
  • Your melanoma has not spread to lymph nodes or other organs, shown by ultrasound, CT, or PET scan
  • You have not had a sentinel lymph node biopsy yet
  • You have not received any treatment before surgery (neoadjuvant therapy)
