This study tests whether repairing the deltoid ligament on the inner side of the ankle helps people heal better after an unstable ankle fracture. If you have a certain type of break (Weber B) that shows widening on x-ray, you may be able to join.

Who can take part
- You must be fluent in Norwegian (both speaking and writing).
- You have a specific type of ankle fracture (Weber B, with or without a small piece at the back of the shinbone).
- An x-ray shows the inner gap of your ankle is 7 mm or more, or your doctor says the fracture is unstable.
- You could walk without a cane or walker before your injury.
- You haven't broken this ankle before or had major surgery on this ankle/foot.
- Your fracture is not open (the bone didn't poke through the skin) and you don't have other severe medical conditions in the same leg.
