Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You are expected to be in the intensive care unit (ICU) for more than 24 hours.
  • You do not have any blockage between the right side of your heart and the blood vessels checked by the ultrasound.
  • You do not have a history of certain heart, lung, or kidney conditions (like a hole in the heart, severe leaky valve, dialysis, or organ transplant).
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is under 40, so the ultrasound can be done effectively.
