Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older
- You have been admitted to the medical intensive care unit (MICU), cardiac care unit (CCU), or medical coronary care unit (MCCU) within the last 24 hours
- You have acute kidney injury (sudden decrease in kidney function) as defined by standard medical criteria
- You have no conditions that would make it hard to get a clear ultrasound image of your kidneys
- You are not pregnant
- You do not have end-stage kidney disease, a kidney transplant, or certain types of severe kidney damage at the start of the study
