Anti-3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA Reductase (HMGCR) Immune-Mediated Necrotizing Myopathy

This trial tests if IVIG (intravenous immunoglobulin, a donated blood product that helps the immune system) can improve muscle strength and reduce damage in people with anti-HMGCR immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy (a rare muscle disease where the immune system attacks muscle cells). It may help you if your muscle weakness is not too severe and you haven't tried IVIG before.

Who can take part

  • You are at least 16 years old
  • You have a positive anti-HMGCR antibody test (a blood marker for this muscle disease)
  • Your muscle strength (measured by a special test) is below 142 out of 160
  • Your creatine kinase (CK) level, a sign of muscle damage, is more than 5 times the normal limit
  • You have had this muscle disease for less than 3 years
  • You live in a state where the study takes place
