Who can take part
- You are a postmenopausal woman (either over 60, had both ovaries removed, or haven't had a period for at least 12 months without another cause).
- Your breast cancer is estrogen receptor positive and HER2 negative, and you have not yet started any treatment for this cancer.
- Your cancer is stage II or III (according to AJCC 8th edition).
- You have good organ function (bone marrow, liver, kidneys, and heart) and an ECOG performance status of 0 or 1.
- You can swallow pills and are willing to have two breast biopsies (one at diagnosis and one after 15 days on the study drugs).
- You have no other cancers in the last 5 years, no serious uncontrolled medical conditions, and no history of severe allergic reactions to similar drugs.
