  • You are 18 years or older
  • You are scheduled for laparoscopic gallbladder removal
  • You do not have diabetes, cancer, or a weakened immune system
  • You did not take antibiotics in the 3 days before the surgery
  • Your gallbladder surgery is not for a severe infection or gangrene
