Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older.
- Your weight is in the overweight or obese range — either a BMI of 30 or higher, or a BMI between 25 and 29.9 plus a weight-related health condition like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, or heart disease.
- If you have type 2 diabetes, it was diagnosed at least 6 months ago, and your blood sugar control (HbA1c) is 12% or lower.
- You have not lost more than 5 kg (about 11 pounds) in the past month, and you haven't taken weight-loss medications in the last 3 months or had weight-loss surgery ever.
- You haven't had pancreatitis, an eating disorder, suicidal thoughts, or a family history of a rare thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid carcinoma.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, this trial is not for you.
