Sleep study for teens with type 1 diabetes

This study tests whether getting more sleep helps improve metabolic health in teens with type 1 diabetes who are not getting enough sleep. If you are between 14 and 19, use an insulin pump, and typically sleep 7 hours or less on school nights, you may be eligible.

Who can take part

  • You are 14 to 19 years old and in high school.
  • You have had type 1 diabetes for at least 1 year.
  • You use an insulin pump or other automated insulin delivery system.
  • You usually get 7 hours or less of sleep per night on school days.
  • You are at risk for obesity (above-average weight or a parent with obesity) and have reached Tanner stage 4 or 5 of puberty.
  • You do not have a diagnosed sleep disorder, do not take medications that affect sleep, and your recent A1c is below 12%.
