Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 60 years old.
- You have Moyamoya disease (confirmed by a special brain scan called angiography) or you are a healthy volunteer with no major medical conditions.
- If you have Moyamoya, you must be scheduled for a type of brain surgery called indirect revascularization to improve blood flow.
- You can speak and read English.
- You do not have other serious neurological conditions (like Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, or multiple sclerosis), a history of traumatic brain injury, or a condition that might cause Moyamoya (such as sickle cell disease or Down syndrome).
- You are not pregnant, and you can safely have an MRI (no metal implants or severe breathing problems like asthma).
