- You are scheduled for a type of hip surgery called cephalomedullary nailing.
- Your body mass index (BMI) is between 18 and 30.
- Your physical health status is graded ASA I, II, or III (generally healthy to mild-to-moderate systemic disease).
- You do not have any condition that prevents you from receiving numbing medicine in the spine or near nerves (like bleeding problems or infection at the injection site).
- You have no history of allergic reaction to local anesthetics (numbing drugs).
- You are willing to participate and have no severe mental illness that would interfere with the study.
