Who can take part

  • You must be between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You are having a type of heart attack called STEMI and are scheduled for emergency angioplasty (primary PCI).
  • You have not had a previous heart artery bypass surgery or angioplasty with stents.
  • You do not have a serious illness with less than 1 year life expectancy (like advanced liver or kidney disease on dialysis, or active cancer).
  • You have not suffered a cardiac arrest that left you unconscious.
